Jim Brennan I'm working on an unusual kind of thriller about a young warehouse worker raised by a single mother who, in a quest to understand perplexing and unexplainable things that had happened to him, he learns the woman who raised him is not who he thinks she is. This leads to a twisted tale of a search to uncover his heritage while eluding the Irish Mob.
Jim Brennan I read. Reading, to me, is like warming up physically for a race by stretching my body. Reading stretches by brain and motivates me to start writing. I'm inspired by literary authors like Colum McCann, Colson Whitehead, and Anthony Doerr, but also read a lot of crime fiction by authors like S.A. Cosby and Adrian McKinty.
Jim Brennan My novel, Once A Welder, began as an essay memorializing four friends who were killed in an accident while we were doing repair work at an out-of-state shipyard. As I wrote and recalled events that led to our trip things took off and it turned into a conspiracy thriller.
