Writing is like a challenging puzzle for me. I get to figure out the way I want to communicate in the hopes that when I’m finished, I’ll have a product that is interesting to look at and enjoyable.

Take a break. Go for a walk. Try again later. Staring at the screen or the ceiling in the hopes that I’ll “just snap out of it” doesn’t work for me.

Just start writing and be patient. You don’t need to have an ending. The action of “putting pen to paper” or “fingers to keyboard” will spark ideas. I had been doing the equivalent of digital paper crumpling for 10 years before I figured out exactly what I wanted to write.

I’ve been writing about my kids for years on a blog. It got to a point where I felt like I was starting to invade their privacy so while trying to figure out a way to end the blog, I figured out that Nature & Nurture would be a great way to do it.
