Tami Kidd Creating worlds and characters. They become more than just names on the page, they are real people, with real problems. Having readers who enjoy your work is a definite plus.
Tami Kidd My most recent book, Deadly Deception is a sequel to Deadly Discovery (previously published under the title of Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.) I wanted to let the reader know what happens after the first book ended. I felt the characters still had a story to tell. The first book was an emotional journey, the main character had to deal with the death of her husband and I was dealing with the death of my 22 year old son. It was therapy for me.
Tami Kidd I get a lot of inspiration from life experiences. I ask a lot of questions, like what if this...or what would happen if.... I also get inspiration from other writers. Being among other writers really helps with motivation. I also have gotten ideas from dreams.
Tami Kidd I just recently published a sequel to a novel I wrote a while back. Deadly Deception and I also revamped the first novel with a new cover, title and re-released it. The original title was Let Sleeping Dogs Lie, but the it's now published under the title of Deadly Discovery. Now I'm working on a novel about a young English professor who finds a box of old diaries in her aunts attic and then she gets caught up in reading them. She soon finds out that there's more to them than meets the eye and other people want to find out their secrets.
Tami Kidd Never give up! If writing is your passion, then keep at it. Learn as much as you can. You never know all there is to know about writing. Because I have an hour commute to work everyday I listen to books on audible. Mostly books on writing. It helps so much and it keeps you motivated. Do something everyday toward your writing goals.
Tami Kidd I sometimes work on another project or just look for writing prompts either in a book or on-line. Sometimes I read and that helps a great deal.
