It isn't so much inspiration as exhalation. I have to write, no choice, and stories come to me so often I have to keep a file of ideas or I lose them. I also have a file of unfinished Aikido Mysteries with a dozen books that either got away from me or left me dangling. No problem, sometimes late at night I remember one and the double zeros pop up and I'm off again. You don't write with a capitol W, you are a writer and it is simply what you do.

I just changed format in my mystery series from first person to third person (hot). Also the name of the series has become The Black Diamond Mysteries. I will probably continue to write the Aikido Mysteries as well, but first person is very challenging and limiting. So the first Black Diamond Mystery is called Aikido Anaconda and is now resting after the completion of the first draft.

Write. Never stop, never give up, never stop writing until the work is finished. Even Woody Allen once said that showing up is 80% of success. And don't worry about if you find a publisher or an agent. Those schmucks are all market driven and sometimes you just don't want to write about zombies, magic, or mommy porn.

Knowing that after your dead there is a terrific chance your family will gain wealth when your books start to sell, e.g. Herman Melville or Thoreau.

I've never found enough time to write all the book ideas I have. Can't even imagine what writer's block must feel like. Conversely I don't write every day. I write when I have something to say even if I am in the middle of something. That means, realistically, that I produce about forty pages a week when I'm in a book, and nothing when I'm gone fishing.
