Charlie Gilkey This is always such a hard question for me to answer because it's rare that I lack the inspiration to write. I'm a non-fiction writer, so experience and living are my inspirations. I may not have the energy or the right brainspace, but the inspiration is usually there.

But, on those rare occasions in which I don't have something to say, my go-tos are:
1. Strike up a conversation with someone. Anyone, really. The conversation will always get me thinking about something to write.
2. Read something. Anything, really, as it'll make me think of something to write.
3. Go for a walk or do something active. It doesn't matter what it is ... it'll get me thinking about something to write.
4. Trick myself into writing a lot by writing a little. I call this the 300 Words Trick -- you can read more about it here: https://www.productiveflourishing.com...

Being inspired ≠ I automatically create the space to do so.

If I got to change or flip the question, I'd change it to "what do you need to do to become more curious, aware, or enthralled by what's going on around you such that writing is a byproduct of those rather than the reason you want to get inspired?"
