Cynthia Lee Hi! I'm just now seeing this. I need to pay more attention to Goodreads, clearly.

I don't think I ever thought of them existing in the same universe. I have crossed the streams a little. I think a couple stories are set in Sardis, AL. Apparently, some really messed up stuff happens in Sardis, AL. I've thought of doing something like that before. That idea is appealing, definitely.
Cynthia Lee Um . . . I don't remember.

I've always wanted to write a book about a young girl named Alice. Because I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan. And I grew up in the 80s, during all that Satanic Panic nonsense, so at some point I put the two things together.
Cynthia Lee I don't need inspiration to write, honestly. I sometimes need a trigger, an image or something that I admire or like or that kinda grosses me out but I never need to be inspired.

I just sit down and do it.

If I'm feeling lousy or tired or preoccupied, I go for long walks around my neighborhood. It clears my head and sometimes ideas or images bubble up from my subconscious.
Cynthia Lee I'm finishing up a short-ish horror novel right now.

I'm looking forward to writing the next one. I'm thinking it might be Southern Gothic, even VC Andrews-esque, but I won't know until I write it.
Cynthia Lee This writing advice comes courtesy of Joe Lansdale, a wonderful writer.

"Write like everyone you know is dead."

Cynthia Lee I never have writer's block.

Seriously.

Cynthia Lee Well, I read a lot of horror, true crime and dark fantasy stuff so I'm afraid the answer is I'd rather stay right where I am.
Cynthia Lee Honestly, I don't know. I'm looking forward to Mexican Gothic, by Silvia Moreno Garcia. Also, the Ancestor by Danielle Trussoni.

And I have made a mental note to read more from Stephen Graham Jones.

I'm easily distracted however by shiny things and objects so there's no telling what I'll be reading this summer.
