But I wanted this latest book to be short and sweet, so I could capture the fire of inspiration, then let it die. Hmm, this doesn't sound like advice. Oh, yeah, maybe start with short-form writing!

Only if I have a funny idea or funny situation, do I sit down and write. If I can't come up with some funny spin on the idea, I won't put anything down on digital paper.

I know some bad dads out there. Not evil dads or anything, but they're just not the type of fathers I expect to see. So I thought, "What if I write a book from their perspective?" Then I realized how sad that might be to write and read. So I wondered if I could make it a comedy. And this is what was born.
