I discovered Rose Valland while reading the book Göring's Man in Paris, by Jonathan Petropoulos, in early 2021. Every time Rose appeared on the page, she popped! For many years I only read non-fiction books about female spies (A Woman of No Importance, Madame Fourcade's Secret War) and I was shocked I had not heard of her and that there had not been a narrative non-fiction book dedicated just to her. Thus began my quest, which began with showing up in Rose's home town in France to see what I could discover and track down.
