Pat Harris When dealing with writer's block, I usually spend time rewriting, or I revisit one of the "side" stories that accompany my novels. A little "on the side" writing often helps. Also, planning and plotting for future capers can help. And if nothing else works, I bury myself in my favorite books or movies until the scourge passes.
Pat Harris How can you put words to the feeling of accomplishment at creating a new, exciting work? Writing is ... satisfying, thrilling, challenging, difficult and incredibly rewarding. I think the best thing about it is constructing and exploring the dividing of soul and spirit of one's characters to reflect life itself in a fantasy world that sometimes seems more real than the real world. That, and the joy it brings to others.
Pat Harris Learn the craft. Writing is an art, but even artists need to learn the rules (so we can skillfully break them occasionally). Also, don't give up. Writing is a life-long learning endeavor that reaps great rewards if you "hang in there."
Pat Harris I'm working on the sequel to New Hope Chronicles Book One, which is exciting and awesome fun! It's going through its final editing process. It's a big, big book and editing is taking a while. I may publish it as two works.
Pat Harris Reading other author's works, plotting an exciting scene, digging deep into the minds of my characters. I've only hit "writer's block" once. What helped was taking a break from my current project to write something else that tied into it. It fueled the flames of creativity and set me ablaze. ;)
Pat Harris The idea came from a pretty "cool" dream - my husband's - about an Earth spaceship heading out to space with a multi-xene crew from several worlds. Their mission is ambassadorial, but they find themselves in a heap of trouble.
