Darlene Craviotto If you keep writing - putting one word after another - there's no such thing as "writer's block." There IS something called an "overactive editor" that sits inside your mind and hates everything you do, especially whatever you're writing at the time. Learn to ignore him/her and he/she will eventually get bored and shut up. And later, much later, when you're finished with your story you can drag that critical editor out of your tool chest and let him/her do your proofreading, fixing grammar, cleaning up spelling errors, etc. etc. That's when it's helpful to have an editor breathing down your neck and making sure all your i's are dotted and your t's are crossed.

Writing interesting characters will be your gift to your reader, and to write them you have to understand them. People-watching is the best way to do this. You will find your stories this way, by creating interesting characters and following where they lead you.
