Russell J. Perry For the third in "The Returning" series, I got the idea from my first two books, but the original idea came from a vivid dream I once had. I wrote it down when I woke, and then applied the "What If?" principle. The dream became the second chapter of the first book.

With my historical novel, my inspiration came from my family's origins in Australia, when they arrived from Europe. Just the idea, not the story. My characters changed that.

Russell J. Perry Generally, I just keep writing. If I'm stuck when writing a novel, I put it away for a day or two and write a short story or some flash fiction, or perhaps an article for my blog.
