D.T. Neal Summer, winter, whenever -- I don't really have reading lists, so much as reading stacks. I've got several stacks of books to read, and I'll get through them slowly.
D.T. Neal One time I (and two others) heard something monstrous in the dark. Like outside. A horrible, unfamiliar howl that was so stereotypically lycanthropic that we all nervously, laughingly called it "the werewolf." There's a whole story around that, but hearing that thing in the dark, hearing it terrify some dogs at a neighbor's, that sound was so bizarre, I've always wanted to see what actually made that sound.
D.T. Neal I never thought I'd see her again. But that didn't stop her from knocking on my door, all the same.
D.T. Neal The only cure for writer's block is writing. You just have to write through it, push past it. Only way out of it.
D.T. Neal I suppose just having a place to go, even if it's in your own mind. Although writing's a lonely profession, as a writer, you're never truly lonely so long as you've got worlds to build, characters to create, stories and ideas to explore.
D.T. Neal It's always said, but any aspiring writer must read a lot before delving into writing. Read voraciously to learn what you like, what styles you enjoy. After you've banked enough books as a reader, then take the plunge and start writing if you're so inclined.
D.T. Neal I'm currently writing some fantasy fiction, with a sort of paranormal thriller queueing up in my head and vying for attention (will likely get to work on that one in October).
D.T. Neal I'm long past the point of inspiration for writing; for me, it's simply what I do every day. Writing's like breathing for me -- gotta do it to live!
D.T. Neal It just popped into my head -- I was thinking about folk horror and thought something involving fungus farming might be an interesting angle to take for a folk horror story, and that became THE CURSED EARTH.
