Joshua Powell Write, put it on paper, don't criticize it, don't stress over it, there'll be time for that later. Just write.
Joshua Powell Just write, keep writing, it doesn't have to work or make sense, but writing always fixes writer's block for me.
Joshua Powell The problem is that I'm always working on too many things. Usually, I put something aside and months later, or in some instances years later I'll come back to it. There's a couple of stories I'm toying with that are inspired by old folktales or literature. Then I'm also working on a writing project that looks to help those who like to write.
Joshua Powell I think sometimes I get inspired to write by how a song makes me feel, a random thought that comes into my head, or just sitting down and starting to write will somehow activate something in me and inspire me to continue to do so.
Joshua Powell I got the idea for "Bayou Refuge" at some point when I was in Kentucky serving as a pastor at a small church. I think it came in part from missing the bayou, beautiful trees, swamps, and Cajun culture that I grew up in as well as processing the illnesses of some people that I loved dearly.
