Write your book. Don't start getting ideas about being a multi-genre rulebreaker until you've at least lived through one draft of your book. Oh, and check out Nanowrimo (http://nanowrimo.org) - three times a year you can write with other people, and it's a BLAST.

I don't think 'inspiration' is exactly right. I've spent the last 32 years (since I was four) making up stories, writing, creating my own books and having a lot of fun with the stories I write. I'm just not so rapid when it comes to sharing them with others and publishing ;)
