My most recent novel "Dead Things" was inspired when I moved to Vernal, UT. I had lived in various cities my whole life and the culture shock of moving to a small town was painful for me. I combined that experience with the pleasure I'd had in reading "The Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen.

Inspiration is an interesting word. I will say ideas come to me from many sources and I follow those ideas to see where they will take me. But, I don't "get inspired", instead I work very hard to write then polish (over and over again) until I have a completed book. Basically I do something related to my craft every single day.

I have a free book available on Amazon's WriteOn platform called "The Center" (Go ahead, read it for free.) I'm working on the sequel to that story called "The Bunker."

I'm never lonely. I always have someone to talk to.

I just keep writing. What I found is that when I get stuck, the longer I wait to write words, the more horrible they become, until they loom larger than my heart can take. So, I just write the horrible words and push past them while they are still smaller than me. And what I've found is that when I later go back to revise my work, I'm unable to distinquish the horrible from the not-so-bad.
