I don't really do "summer reading" as different from my other reading. And I don't have a strategy. I will pick a book from my "Want to Read" shelf, but I cannot predict right now what that will be.

There are stories everywhere. Things happen to people I know, or might happen; there are stories in the news that easily spark novels and stories. Many of the people I know make interesting characters for novels. It's more a matter of choosing what to write down than searching for inspiration.

My work-in-progress is called Dead Man Lying. It's another Lei Crime Kindle World novella, set in Maui, featuring my character, FBI Special Agent Vanessa Storm, and Toby Neal's Maui Police Sergeant Lei Texeira.

Yes, I am going to continue the Dark Age trilogy. I have the plot mapped out. I have some other obligations to fulfill first, though, such as my thrillers, Torn Roots and JET - Stealth. They're now out, and then I have to publish the sequel to Army of Worn Soles. Then I'll get to Book Two of the Dark Age trilogy, tentatively title Strength of the Sky.

My most recent book, Army of Worn Soles, is the true story of my father-in-law, Maurice Bury, and his experiences being drafted into the Soviet Red Army in 1941, just in time for the German invasion. I got the idea for turning it into a book not long after he told me about some of what he went through. It was literally a thought, "Hey, that would be a great book!"
