I am especially drawn to unlikely couples. One of my favorite pairs is Father John and Vicky in Margaret Coel's Wind River series--a Jesuit priest and a lawyer Arapaho woman, really?? Their relationship is charming!

My mystery series is set in Boulder, Colorado, my hometown, and the town itself gave me the idea for "Murder with Altitude." The town is often referred to as "The Republic of Boulder," because it is so uniquely different from the rest of Colorado. Boulder has a high opinion of itself (deservedly), and believes it can solve the world's problems. Who knows? Maybe it can. Boulderites are really smart people who work at scientific institutes and have lots of letters behind their names. All this attitude (oops, I mean altitude) makes great fodder for me to poke a little harmless fun.
