That moment when writing becomes more like reading; when I'm fully in the story watching it unfold. That's when I'm most aware that as an author I'm a participant, not the creator. In my landscape photography I try to capture my vision of God's creation. Writing is the same for me--God is the creator and author of the universe, and I get to play along.

I clean the house. Coincidentally, when I want to clean the house, writing is the perfect procrastination. When it gets serious, though, I make sure to accomplish three things: walk, sleep, and daydream. It's amazing how those simple things can fall by the wayside when life gets busy, and how difficult the creative process is without them.
