Since my summer is over I will list the books I really wanted to read.
Plum Island
Fear and Loathing on Campain Trail or the Rum Diary another Neil Gaimon book,
Books I read round sumertime
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green - Dude can write
Code Girls by Liz Mundy - Just another manic that Mundy
Beartown by Fredrick Backman I may read another book in the series, I also may be struck by lighting
The President is Missing by Bill Clinton and friend - It sucks to think that presidents dream of being undercover agents. I wonder what undercover agents dream about being?

The water continued to rise on both sides as the road narrowed with each passing second. Slowing to a crawl, a quick look at the narrow road behind confirmed there was no other option but to press on.

I talk to myself all the time so why not on Goodreads. In fact, I feel having such a trait is a huge aid for an author. So Yes I realize I am responding to myself and proud of it.

Definitely Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. There are so many things that Douglas Adams thought up that it could be almost an endless trip. I'd love to be a writer for the Guide and get to rate planets even its it's only one or two words.

You know that might have already happened.

It somewhat comes naturally to me. Though I put in a great deal of work into it as well. Often I do have someone in mind that is basis for character, Though I use this more for describing their reactions then there actual dialogue.
I also make sure I do not let main character dominate the conversations, the others are not robots they have things in their mind when they step into a conversation even if you will never see them again.

I am self-published though I originally tried getting a publisher. Early on a friend who was an agent told me there was almost no chance that I would be able to use my daughters art work.
I asked him what were the chances of getting published if I dropped my daughter's artwork. He said better but still pretty slim. So that weighed heavily on my decision , though if he thought I would find a publisher without a doubt, then I probably would have kicked my daughter to the curb. I think a big stumbling block a new writer including myself makes when trying to get published is not writing for a particular audience. Publisher in some rare times will try something out of the norm, but in most circumstances they want books that are going to appeal to the audiences they know and have built. This advice might be in some way detrimental to a writers work the reality is the writer especially at that stage is writing for the publisher not the general public, so that needs to remembered if trying to go the normal publishing house route.

My younger daughter suggested I write a book about a puppy club. I took this to mean write a story about a dog from another planet. Sometimes us authors hear what we want to hear.

I usually write late at night and opposite of being inspired to write I often more fall into a spaced out zone where I am so tired I think I drop my protection and really allow myself to be creative and unrestricted.

Do not think of yourself as an aspiring writer. There are to many of those, you need to be a incredible marketer, a creative voice, a social presence, you need to be something the other aspiring writers are not.

Not the pay. An I don't really consider myself a writer.
And I have probably written more computer code in my job than litiary material. Still with all the code I wrote that works nothing feels as good as hen someone reaches out to you and says I loved what you wrote, especially when you can tell somehow it related to them.

I have a family and a fulltime job, writing is a hobby, a love, a dream and among about a million things I have to do each day. If I have writers block I just go to the next thing on the list. By the time I get back to writing I usually forgotten what backed me up as well as what I was planning to write.
