John W. Otte A little from column A, a little from column B.
John W. Otte At this time, not really. I'm not sure what the next story for Failstate and his friends could be, and I haven't been actively brainstorming any new ideas.

But never say never! Every now and then, I get the itch to go back and tell more stories. I even have a few ideas for a stand alone Etzal'el book, so we'll have to see. :)
John W. Otte This is going to sound weird, but kind of.

The Hive is set in the same storyworld as Numb and chronologically, the events of The Hive happens after the events of Numb. And a minor story thread from Numb is woven into the main conflict of The Hive. And two characters from Numb pop up in The Hive.

But when I wrote The Hive, I intended for it to stand on its own. The carryover from Numb was intended to be an Easter egg sort of thing for folks who had read my books. And there really isn't an overarching plot that ties the stories of Numb and The Hive together.
John W. Otte Well, I won't say "never," but at the present time, I think it'd be unlikely. Sorry. :)
John W. Otte At present, I'm working on a short story, basically a mash-up of Lovecraftian horror and science fiction. I've never done Lovecraft before and only written one "horror" story, so this ought to be interesting.

I'm also getting ready to start on what will hopefully be a science fiction trilogy set in the Ministrix universe. No idea if it will be published, but it's an idea that I'm excited about, so that's good.
John W. Otte Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you just yet. I turned in the manuscript to the publisher just a few weeks ago and I'm waiting to start the editing process. I also don't know when the book will release. I'm about 80% certain it'll be this year at some point, but I don't know that for sure. Sorry!
John W. Otte Hearing from the people who enjoyed my stories. I love to tell stories and it feels really good to know that people appreciated it.
John W. Otte I've always been a fan of superhero stories. When I was brainstorming the story for Failstate, I sort of came up with the theme first. Telling a story with superheroes felt like the right fit for what I wanted to do.
John W. Otte I try to super-charge my imagination by reading a whole lot of fiction books. It keeps the juices flowing and really gets me in the mood to write. As a matter of fact, I've discovered that if I'm having trouble writing, it's usually because I haven't had the chance to read as much as I might like.
John W. Otte Not very well, truth be told. Sometimes, I try to power through the block, basically putting down words on the page to just get through the scene or chapter or whatever is causing me so much trouble in hopes that I'll be able to break through to a part I want to write. I can always go back and fix it in editing.

But sometimes, writer's block just stops me dead in my tracks and I have to take a break from writing to let the scene sit. Eventually, something may shake loose and I'll be able to get going again. Usually, though, I wind up coming up with ideas for other projects, which isn't quite so helpful.
