The best thing about being a writer is knowing that the story of my life and my battle with cancer, and all the lessons I learned along the way, is documented and available for all who may need it or want to read it until the end of time. It is my legacy. The work I created, and poured my entire heart into, will exist long after I do.

Just start writing! When those amazing ideas pop into your head, take a break from whatever you are doing and write them down. Just get them on paper in outline form. Then, schedule time every day, even if only fifteen minutes, to transfer those outline style notes into something more.

I am currently working on a few concepts for my second book - which will also be non-fiction. My goal is to dive deeper into the concepts laid out in my first book, with many additional concepts and ideas I have been compiling since the completion of the first book.

In many ways. I work out a lot. Many times, in the middle of an intense workout an idea will pop into my head. After completing my workout, I jot those ideas down. I then take those rough, high-level ideas and concepts and start to compile them into more detailed writing. Physical activity typically activates my brain and inspires me to put those ideas on paper.

My book is a memoir. I started journaling while fighting my battle with Pancreatic Cancer as a form of therapy to deal with the severe emotional strain the cancer caused. Eventually, I started to compile those journals into a manuscript. The initial intent was only to write it as a way to leave a legacy for my four children and wife if I didn't survive. But as the book evolved and got closer to a finished product, I realized it could be something bigger than that. In the end, I think I wrote a book that can provide hope and inspiration to anyone who is in need of it - which is most people at some point in their life.
