Al Rennie The answer to that one is easy .... Clearwater Beach, Florida and just enjoy. Currently, I can get there for about one month of the year, but I'm aiming for the max as permitted by Canadian tax law which is around four months. After that I would have to pay both Canadian and US taxes.
Thanks for the question.
Al Rennie I have a website .... alrennie.com ... it also functions as a blog to a limited sense. Thank you for asking and for being a reader .... Al
Al Rennie Thank you for this question. I admit that I had never given the idea much thought. I know that a number of readers have made the comparison of Joe and Mia to the "Castle" television series couple. Whenever you can get two characters playing off one another, there is always the potential for entertainment. In my series, that is often the case with Joe and his brother, Frank, as well as exchanges between Joe and Mia, Joe and Billy Ray, Joe and Luke. In the book out on February 14th, there is an interaction between Joe and a doper named Jordan Dingleman that I had fun writing. I hope that answers the question. Thank you for asking.
Al Rennie The Clearwater Series almost writes itself. I ask myself, "What criminal problem could make Joe's life interesting today? How are things with Mia and the kids? What complications can I create and then solve in an interesting and sometimes humorous manner?
Al Rennie I believe that if you are a writer, you write. If you have a story you want to tell, you write it. The really great thing about writing today, if your goal is to see you work on I-books or Barnes & Noble, is you can by-pass all the filters that used to stand in the way. Literary agents, traditional publishers all served a purpose for the truly gifted, and sent out a lot of rejection slips to the wannabees; I guess they still do. Smashwords allows you the opportunity to be a published writer earning a little money without those filters. How's that for inspiration?
Al Rennie I have just completed the final edit of Clearwater Assault and have 25000 words of Clearwater Folly. There is another one called The Crazy Little Girl sitting there waiting for me if I want a change of pace.
Al Rennie Write, read and write some more. Get as many experiences crammed into your life as possible. I have been a teacher, a politician, and a hockey coach, a father and a foster father. I have sat on numerous boards and committees. Always watch people for how they respond in situations ... be aware. You never know when you might use some part of your experience to create a character or develop a plot.
Al Rennie As long as you have a pencil and a piece of paper ... or a tablet or a computer, you will always have something to do. Boredom becomes a thing of the past.
Al Rennie Not easily and fortunately not too often ... You write yourself out of it. The longer I procrastinate, the harder it is to step around it. If you don't acknowledge it, maybe it will go away.
