I have always loved telling stories. Reliving certain life experiences or expanding on the memories of the events of life.
I remember being really small, like six or seven, and using primitive word processors and art work to write my own stories.
There are so many things I love about being a writer but most of all it is the escape and hunt. I get to run head long with an idea toward a goal. Its like treasure hunting. You have a map, you're outline, you have characters, that is your crew, and you have the treasure, the destination where you want the story to take you and the journey of it all.
With any story, whether I finish it or not, it is a fantastic ride. The spark of a story is a great rush. Holding a finished tale in your hands is a trill. But watching someone take in your story and really enjoy it, is a real joy.

After months of thinking about Gothic Romance genre books and the movies of Gueirmo Del Toro, I began thinking of several ideas that would make a modern Gothic Romance.
I began researching ideas that made me wonder what ordinary problems with modern life would be useful in constructing a believable and frightening experience.
That wound up bringing me to my new work, Love to Pieces.
I am currently in the middle stages of completing the book. High level of rewriting and perfecting but the story is there. I am very excited by this project and will soon be releasing the cover art that truly fits the tale and theme. Can't wait!

I tend to be writing five things at once. That way if I find myself stuck in one place I can turn on a different way of thinking by changing gears and working on something else.
It sort of tricks you because you have to pivot to what is going on in the other story and it sparks your brain to kick start the creativity again.
Often I will write for a half hour or so and suddenly an idea from the back of my mind strikes and it is sort of a eureka moment sending me back to where I was stuck.

Write all the time and learn to love rewriting.
The old saying "writing is rewriting" is so true.
If it isn't an idea you feel is worth your time to endlessly relive and rewrite it might not be the idea.
But practice. I write and come up with ideas all the time. Most of it will never be seen by anyone. But it can come in handy at some point.
If you hit a writing block or a wall in the plot. Make sure you organize everything really well. Keep it organized by them even. You can pull from stories and make them chapters in a book that was never ever close to the idea that sparked either project. F. Scott Fitzgerald turned tons of short stories into whole books or even just chapters of books.
J. R.R. Tolkein often turned small stories or ideas into large sections of his full length books.

I am editing and refining a huge book that I began working on about 13 years ago. I never thought that after all these years I would publish five books before feeling ready to let go of this one.
I am writing a short story collection called Dream Catcher.
Also, I have three other outlines I am tailoring and may begin running headlong into soon.
My main project is a card/board game that I created and am getting artwork and final templates completed for. It is a ton of fun but very challenging. I needed to learn a lot of new skills and use very different problem solving methods to undertake this one.

I find inspiration or ideas everywhere and in everything. I have been deep in a conversation with friends or playing a card or board game with my family and suddenly, boom, there it hits you.
Sometimes i'm in a particular mood and seek out music or movies that match my mood. That gets me moving on certain genres for sure.
