The Lucky Dey franchise began as me trying to develop a television series about a rogue Los Angeles County Sheriffs deputy. The more I thought about it, the more I discovered the character would be better served in a noir series of crime fiction. I'm very pleased with my choice.

I don't require inspiration. At least not anymore. If I don't write, I'm pretty useless. I do know that I have more stories to tell than there is life inside me. So between now and that fateful day, I'm getting them out as fast as I can.

Read as much as you write. Keep your eyes and ears open. And treat nothing you put down on paper as if it's precious. Rewriting will almost always make it better.

Considering I live in Los Angeles and we suffer from more traffic than weather, I'd say it's the twenty pace commute to my office.

It's never been an issue. I've been stuck a few times with plot. I'm big on writing through obstacles knowing I'll be rewriting and rewriting again.
