Charlotte Hubbard Hi, Jenny--and sorry about the time lag! #6 in this series, FAMILY GATHERINGS AT PROMISE LODGE, will come out in March, 2023 and #7 HIDDEN AWAY AT PROMISE LODGE is my current project--comes out in September of 2023. The long "gap" allows for the final book of the Morning Star series plus a Christmas novella to come out in 2022. Thanks for asking!
Charlotte Hubbard Yes, there is! LOVE BLOOMS IN MORNING STAR, Jo's (and her mother's!) romances will bring this series to a close. Thanks for asking!
Charlotte Hubbard I wrote a series. My publisher went bankrupt. (true story, awhile back)
Charlotte Hubbard These days, I would be delighted to travel to Promise Lodge--one of my own Amish fictional worlds—and live there with the characters I've created. Sometimes, fiction is just a lot more soothing than the real world!
Charlotte Hubbard Shelly, you and a LOT of readers wish Promise Lodge was a real place--and I would love to live there myself! Meanwhile, we have to content ourselves with the next books in that series: #4 NEW BEGINNINGS AT PROMISE LODGE comes out this September/2019 and #5 LIGHT SHINES ON PROMISE LODGE will be out in the spring of 2020. Thanks for asking!
Charlotte Hubbard Hi, Jenna! Matter of fact, I have begun a new series set in Morning Star--new "star" characters, but you'll revisit the Hartzlers, the Waglers, Bishop Jeremiah and other folks there. This series, The Maidels of Morning Star, will debut in August of 2020. Meanwhile, I'm completing the Promise Lodge series with #4 NEW BEGINNINGS AT PROMISE LODGE (9/19) and #5 LIGHT SHINES ON PROMISE LODGE (spring of 2020). You can sign up for my e-newsletter on my website at CharlotteHubbard.com to get a note when these future books will be out! Thanks for asking!
Charlotte Hubbard I'm currently devouring the Diane Mott Davidson culinary mystery series, currently reading #5, KILLER PANCAKE.
Charlotte Hubbard Because I write these Amish books in series, I usually have an idea of where the series goes next as I finish each book—and I follow the series overview I turned in to my editor when I sold the books. Considering that a book's synopsis runs 10-15 pages, that leaves me about 300 pages to expand upon the synopsis. Frankly, I don't know where it all comes from!
Charlotte Hubbard There are lots of perks--a big one being that I can work at home on a flexible schedule with my Border collie Ramona snoozing beside my desk.
Charlotte Hubbard Fortunately, I don't block very often, or for very long--because my list of due dates and deadlines reminds me that I have books under contract through 2019! Sometimes I just get out of my office and run errands; sometimes I read the Plain newspaper, THE BUDGET, for ideas, and sometimes I just forge ahead in the story by scribbling notes about all the potential things that could happen next--or which should have happened earlier in the story.
Charlotte Hubbard Inspiration is mostly putting my butt in the chair, because I'm highly motivated to meet my weekly page quota so I meet my deadlines. I also click my playlist of instrumental hymn tunes/classics because that's a signal to my brain that it's time to work!
Charlotte Hubbard I'm writing the final scene—a wedding!—of WEDDINGS AT PROMISE LODGE, which comes out in July, 2017.
