To have the pen in your hand, or the keyboard, i suppose, though I prefer a pen or a pencil, personally, gives you the ability to create worlds only you will ever step into. You see, the reader comes along with their own imagination of the world you create but, it is yours that holds the truest vision of that world. It's a secret place no one will ever really step into because its all in the beauties of your own mind. You see the forest which lays beyond the castle for your prince, princess, or creature you've created, you walk the cobblestone streets beyond your village, you see through the eyes of your protagonist. it is, by far, the greatest privilege to be a storyteller in this way because you are the creator, what you say goes, but don't abuse that position. There is room for others eyes and that's the beauty of having readers. They get to step into the world you've created and hopefully they see themselves in what you've crafted.

I am caught between Narnia, Lord of the rings, and the world of Shadow and Bone. I think, if i were in the Grisha world, I'd probably join the Darkling, enough of the heroes in that realm, "make me your villain". But, if I were in Middle earth or Narnia, who knows, I might enjoy time with the hobbits (I am a foodie after all) or find myself a pair of bevers and enjoy their civilized company.

Boy, I wish i had the solution to this. Writers block for me, comes from a lack of information, so, if i need to breakthrough the writer's block, i just seek out more details until the picture i need to get to the next place in the story is clear.

No matter what anyone tells you, there is no one size fits all for your writing process. Just because one person has theirs does not mean it's going to be the process that works for everyone. My own is simply to write and let the story flow how its meant to go. I don't spend hours planning outlines, that just boxes you in, i have to let things just happen. Find your process and then stick with it no matter if, and i have this experience, it seems to annoy others who have a pigeonholed view of what it means to be a writer. Writing should be a free flow of your thoughts first, then you can tighten and tidy later.

music, it is the go to way that I get my creative mind moving.
