Do you know how many great writers were rejected by literary agents? The world of literature would be diminished greatly if they gave up because someone said their book would not be commercially successful.
Paul Cicchini Walking away from the laptop and doing something else. Some writers garden; others go for a walk; still others read someone else's work.
Personally, I go work out. The endorphins always help, but your mind tends to wander when you are lifting weights and before you know it, Boom! Inspiration.
Paul Cicchini Creating worlds. Although most of my books have Earth as the setting, I particularly enjoyed writing The Essentialz where my teen superheroes could defy or 'bend' some of the laws of physics.
Paul Cicchini The ESSENTIALZ were created because I wanted to show young readers the connection between superheroes and being a person of integrity, compassion, and inner strength. I had to do this because the creators of other superheroes reveled in their character's "moral ambiguity." I didn't want that for my students and my counselees.
