Harold Titus The interest developed gradually as, increasingly, I read fiction. One day in the 12th grade my political science class had a substitute teacher. He asked us to write something in class about subject matter that I don't recall. We all dashed off perfunctory comments and turned our papers in. The next day he opened the class with the question, "Who is Harold Titus?" WTF, was my first reaction. He complimented me and read what I had written, then read aloud two or three other papers. I taught English for 31 years in Orinda, CA. I enjoyed having my students read excellent fiction. That certainly enhanced my interest in writing. After I retired, drawing upon what I had observed of skilled author's works, I set out to see what I could create.
Harold Titus Thanks, Tom, for the question. The past five years I have chosen only to read and review American historical fiction. I post my reviews on my blog site, U.S. Historical Fiction, as well as on Goodreads. I have begun editing the first draft manuscript of my second historical novel, so my time for reading and reviewing is more limited. Lack of time restricts how much I read. My blog site subject matter restricts what I read. Let me know what historical fiction you have written.
Harold Titus Jim, thank you for your message. What an amazing man your ancestor was! I came across his involvement in the first day of the Revolutionary War when I was researching experiences of some of the day's participants. After my novel was printed, I wanted to write about what had happened to some of these people after April 19. I was astonished at what I discovered about your ancestor.

I do have a Facebook account. There isn't much on it. Most of what I write is on my blog site: http://authorharoldtitus.blogspot.com. Thank you for your interest.
Harold Titus James, thank you for your generous offer. Your book sounds intriguing. I was a history major at UCLA and taught history for several years while I was a secondary school teacher, so the subject matter interests me. Also, I was 5 at the end of 1939. My difficulty is that I am trying to write a second novel and having some difficulty finding sufficient time to do so. Occasionally, I read for relaxation and enjoyment. What I will do is wait until your second edition is out, buy a kindle version, and read it when I can find the appropriate time. Then, assuming that I like it (I suspect that I will), I will write a review and post it on goodreads, amazon, and my blog site.
Harold Titus I have started writing a novel about Algonquian natives at Roanoke Island (North Carolina) from 1583 to 1586. Their social order and many of their lives will be destroyed by English colonists bent on having their way and finding and extracting valuable natural resources. I will focus more on the natives than the Englishmen.
