For my most recent book published (The Seers' War), I was strongly inspired my Arthurian legend and Welsh mythology and felt the need to funnel that inspiration.
For the ones I'm working on now, (Rahasya) was inspired from several different sources by the idea of an ancient, perhaps lost library or a long held ancient site. A recurring theme in quite a few works including the tv series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Kekkaishi".
"Asylum Ghost" was inspired by two of my great passions, mental asylums and the Victorian Era. I have long wanted to write a story involving both but the key that got me started was learning about a fire that occurred in an asylum here in Michigan in 1891. That itself is the beginning of the book.

For characters, scenes, and even the book as a whole, I choose theme songs that fit particularly well if only in my mind. I listen to the song right before I'm going to work on said character, or scene, or just the book in general. It helps bring them to life in my mind and makes it easier (note, not EASY, but easIER) to convey them to my computer.

"Rahasya", Book 3 of the Tome Series.
I'm also working on my horror novel project, "Asylum Ghost".

Take time with what you love. If you love fantasy, take the time to work on it and bring it to life. If you love horror, take the time to work on it and bring it to life.
Mostly, take time. If you rush your writing or don't really care about your characters or the world they're in, it will definitely show.

For me, the writing! The whole creative process, even when it gets frustrating at times, is the best part. I love creating characters and continuing to build my world of Kore`.

I watch anime, read manga, or play video games. I know it sounds odd, but it frees up my mind. It's like giving my mind a chance to step back, get some breathing room, and come back at my writing with a fresh eye. So to speak.
