I'm basically a fact-oriented person in a fact-finding job. But information about history has always reached out to me. I used to tell ghost stories to my kids and their cousins when the families stayed together. I centered them around historic events or people who caught my fancy. Time travel is a lot like a ghost story— an eerie communion with people who are no longer there— so why not try that?
One story seemed to grow legs and became Beyond Australia. I've written about the elements that went into it in some fairly short blog posts: www.Beyond-Australia.com/blog . See especially "Inspirations," "My favorite period," and "How the story began."
