John D. Clay Lost in the dark forest, I followed the distant sound of my own voice calling for help. When I reached the source, there was nothing but a shadowy figure grinning in the darkness.
John D. Clay If I could step into any fictional world, I’d choose one where survival isn't guaranteed, where the rules of civilization have collapsed, and where every decision could mean life or death. A world like the post-apocalyptic wastelands of The Road or the surveillance state nightmare of 1984.

What would I do there? I’d like to think I’d be the strategist, the one who knows how to navigate the dangers, barter for information, and stay two steps ahead of whatever force is trying to wipe us out. But let’s be real—I'd probably end up on the wrong side of a drone surveillance system within the first 24 hours. Still, it’d be one hell of a ride.
John D. Clay This summer, my reading list is a mix of dystopian thrillers, sci-fi classics, and a few wildcards. At the top of my list:

Wool: Book One of the Silo Series by Hugh Howey – A gripping tale of a subterranean society, exploring themes of control and rebellion.

Neuromancer by William Gibson – A cyberpunk classic that shaped the genre.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy – A haunting and unforgettable post-apocalyptic journey.

Edge of Collapse by Kyla Stone – A gripping post-apocalyptic survival thriller that delves into the challenges of enduring a world turned upside down.

And, of course, I might throw in a book that’s completely outside my usual genres—just to shake things up.
John D. Clay When I was eight, my family had a big Christmas party on a ranch that had its own private herd of bison. The other kids and I were playing hide and seek, and I ran off to find the perfect hiding spot. I stumbled into an outbuilding—some kind of concert area, with a big stage and music equipment set up. It felt like I had just discovered a secret world.

The countdown was running low, and I needed to hide fast. That’s when I saw it—a big, deep freeze freezer in the corner. It seemed like the perfect spot. I lifted the lid... and in that moment, I knew. I had seen something I wasn’t supposed to.

I never told anyone. And I never played hide and seek the same way again."
