FROZEN ORBIT, a standalone work outside of the PERIGEE/FARSIDE universe. It began with a question: what if that New Horizons probe we flew by Pluto last summer had spotted something no one expected to see? What if that something was clearly not a natural phenomenon?
What if, on closer inspection, it turned out to be an old Soviet spacecraft from thirty years ago? And the crew was still out there?
Hmm...yeah, I thought that might make for a good story.

Seriously. Get off your @$$ and write. They say it takes ten years to be an overnight success, which sounds about right. PERIGEE took me almost eight years to complete, FARSIDE took less than three. Follow the logarithmic progression and I should have FROZEN ORBIT done by Christmas. At least that's what my publisher thinks...

I just close my eyes, try to put myself inside the scene, and start typing. I'll worry about spelling and grammar later; that's what editing is for.
