Carol Shaben Oh my gosh, Wilma, what a jolt it is to hear from you. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I didn't write a lot about her in the book, but did write the account of Luella Wood—the woman who was at the High Prairie airport that night—about your father. It broke my heart to hear the story of him awaiting your mom's arrival, and to think of how your family must have suffered without your mom. I know my dad paid a visit to your home after the crash and I document this briefly in the book. What I can tell you with utter certainty is that your mom did not suffer. It was not apparent to the passengers that there was anything amiss on that plane in the moments before the crash. In fact, my dad said it felt as if the plane was descending for a normal landing when it clipped the trees. All of the passengers who died, except for one man, did so instantly, so that is a blessing of sorts. If you want to talk further, please send me your contact details via the contact form on my website: carolshaben.com and I'd be happy to speak and even to send you a copy of the book. My warmest regards to you, Wilma.
