Audrey Davis She picked up the phone, held it to her ear, and heard a rasping sound that sent ice down her spine. Her eyes flickered to the wall, where the phone socket lay, unplugged.
Audrey Davis Not sure, to be honest. A title popped into my head one day (perhaps I need medication) and from there, a basic plot developed. It's got a long way to go, but I'm trying to set myself achievable targets and not get distracted by domestic chores or Netflix.
Audrey Davis My inspiration to start a book came from doing an online course on Writing Fiction. However, the seeds of my story for A Clean Sweep were planted when not one but two incredibly handsome chimney sweeps turned up on my doorstep in Switzerland. Those seeds took a long time to grow but eventually sprouted and developed into my tale of a younger man and an older woman. And I still get a gorgeous sweep examining my chimney once a year!

Audrey Davis Just write! I know everyone says that, but it's so true. Don't agonise over what you're writing or if it's grammatically perfect etc. Keep building up the word count (but try to keep some story arc otherwise you may have to go back, and correct sequence boo-boos and other inconsistencies). I know I did! Create something, enjoy the process and feel proud.
Audrey Davis Ooh, I guess it's the freedom to work anywhere, at any time and on any device. Audrey Davis I don't admit I have writer's block; I just find a million ways to avoid writing. Even cleaning the toilets seems appealing when my fingers just can't type out any meaningful words. What tends to happen is a random thought or scene will then pop into my head, I'll note it down on my phone or IPad, then I'll be inspired to get back to the job in hand. But that can take days …
