Currently listening to "Into the Water" by Paula Hawkins and reading Kristen Hannah's "What We Will Do for Love." Always have a long list and usually reading a volume of poetry (Jane Kenyon) and a book about spirituality concurrently. Also reading one of Natalie Goldberg's books. I think it's important for writer's to always have a book about writing on their current reading list.

I'm currently editing the proof of my soon-to-be published 2nd novel, "The Sin of His Father." The idea for this one was truly a gift.
One morning in May of 2006, I woke up at 3:00 AM with the rough outline. I crawled out of bed and jotted down the major story arc.
A few months later, I escaped to my writing retreat and completed a detailed outline along with character and setting sketches. From there, the characters themselves drove the plot in unexpected directions
This was a fun, creative experience compared with the near drudgery of my first spontaneous novel that took so long and called for so many re-writes.
