Sadeqa Johnson Hi there!

Great question. The title came from the chapter when Eleanor was wondering about the woman carrying her child. She referred to her as Eve, thus The House of Eve.
Sadeqa Johnson Hi there! I chose Phillis Wheatley because I believe she paved the way for me to be an established writer. She broke down so many doors that I am now able to walk through. I hope you'll keep your eyes out for my next novel, KEEPER OF LOST CHILDREN. It will be published in Feb 2026.
Sadeqa Johnson I'm so glad you loved it! I am currently finishing up a novel called KEEPER OF LOST CHILDREN. Stay tuned, it will be published Feb 2026!
Sadeqa Johnson Hi there! I am currently working on a novel called KEEPER OF LOST CHILDREN that will be published February 2026! I hope you'll love it!
Sadeqa Johnson Thank you! Keeper of Lost Children will be out Feb 2026. Have you read Fallen Grace? It's an Amazon short story.
Sadeqa Johnson I have three previous novels that you may also love. Second House From the Corner, And Then There Was Me and Love in a Carry-on Bag. I also have a short story on Amazon called Fallen Grace which is a short story in the Blaze Collection. Enjoy! And thanks for reading!
Sadeqa Johnson Thank you so much for reading THE HOUSE OF EVE. As far as I know, Ruby kept to her promise and did not contact Shimmy. Her future was at stake and she desperately needed to go to college. I hope this helps!
Sadeqa Johnson Thank you so much for your question. There will not be a full sequel but I have written a short story on Amazon called FALLEN GRACE, it’s a part of the BLAZE COLLECTION that continues the story of Bubbles, Ruby’s suite mate from the attic. I hope you will enjoy it!
Sadeqa Johnson Hi there! Believe it or not, The House of Eve is my fifth novel. Here’s my website, please go take a look and discover my previous novels. Thanks for reading. https://www.sadeqa.net/
Sadeqa Johnson Hello there! I’m so glad you enjoyed The House of Eve. It is always my desire to show black women in all forms and not just what is shown on television. I’m currently working on another historical fiction novel that takes place in the 1950s so we will just see how it goes. It’s still early in the process for me but you will have various looks at black women in the new novel. Thank you so much for reaching out.

Sadeqa Johnson Thank you so much for your question. I’m so glad that you enjoyed The House of Eve. I really have no idea if Ruby will ever meet her daughter. Honestly, the last page of the book for you is also the last page of the book for me.
Sadeqa Johnson So many of the Black women on TV look the same--they all act the same. In The House of Eve, we have different colors, different classes, different socioeconomic backgrounds. I think all these different Black characters in this story creates the melting pot. There's all these different versions of our story that are being told.

Sadeqa Johnson I have never written a sequel but I always leave threads just in case. We shall see! Thanks for the love!
Sadeqa Johnson Mrs. Porter, the librarian, was based on a real person who worked at the Howard library. As a library geek, the library was my foundation for reading and writing. My relationships with the librarians totally fueled who I am today. The best secrets in books happen by accident, and when I stumbled upon Dorothy Porter's character, I had to figure out how to weave her in. Those scenes were a pure joy for me--writing about a woman who worked so hard to preserve African and African American and Caribbean history. I loved being able to tie Eleanor into something so historically sound, which was also very important to her character.
Sadeqa Johnson I was always a reader. As a child I would read a book a day. I went to college as a Theater Arts major and it was there that I started writing plays, which led to poems which led to my first novel that never saw the light of day. I'm not sure when the moment happen to make me feel like a true writer, maybe with the publication of my first novel, Love in a Carry-on Bag. Thanks so much for your question!
Sadeqa Johnson When I was researching the novel I came across a portion of Robert Lumpkin's will and he said something like I leave my fortune and real estate to my "Yellow Wife" meaning Mary Lumpkin who inspired the story of Pheby Delores Brown. Yellow because she was very fair skinned. I'm so glad you enjoyed The House of Eve!
Sadeqa Johnson I don't have any plans for a sequel. My next novel, The House of Eve will be published on February 7, 2023. I hope you this novel will touch your soul just as Yellow Wife. Thank you!
Sadeqa Johnson I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Reading it on sitting, wow I'm so impressed! From your lips to God's ears on the movie. Hopefully I'll have good news to share soon.
Sadeqa Johnson Not in the near future. Yellow Wife took a lot out of me and while I'm so grateful that the story and characters chose to come through me it was hard work. My next novel, The House of Eve, takes place in the 1940s and 50s and will be published on February 7, 2023. I hope you'll give it a read.
Sadeqa Johnson 'Where the Bad Girls Go' was the working title for 'The House of Eve' which will be published on February 7, 2023. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
