Brandon Spacey For me, it is the ability to escape our current reality for a while. Just like while you're reading, you can get sucked into whatever universe the book takes place in - the same happens when you're writing. Maybe even more deeply. Not all ideas make it to the page, but the ideas are constantly flowing while my fingers are on the keys. And being the creator of the characters, I know all of their thoughts and dreams and fears and hopes, even if they don't get exposed to the reader. It's a fascinating experience, and it makes writing such a pleasure, even if no one will ever read the words.
Brandon Spacey I write past it. I have an ongoing document where characters just do whatever, in a never-ending scene. It will never be published or shared, but it keeps my mind moving and these characters alive. These characters will likely never see publication either. But writing them into scenarios can sometimes help you past a scene you're writing in a project that will be published.
