My novel The White Envelope is a good example. When I was a kid in grammar school my mother sent me to pick up a white envelope at my aunt's house around the corner from where Iived in a quiet residential neighborhood in the mid 1960s. I never found out what was in that envelope but the premise is the mystery I write about in my novel The White Envelope.

The White Envelope was inspired by my own life. When I was a young boy my mother had me pick up a white envelope every Tuesday after school for a few months from aunt who lived around the block in Queens. I never learned what was it but I have an idea.
