I just keep reading and paying attention to the world. Listen to music, look at artwork, read poetry. Immerse yourself in creativity. Even gardening and baking are creative endeavors.
Find writing prompts and force yourself, like a school assignment, to write something. It may be rough and awful, but you'll have something to work with. I also find writing a blog post weekly to keep my writing mind sharp.

I am an introvert, so it is by and large a solitary endeavor. BUT, I still get to be very social through my writing.

Join critique groups or at minimum find writing partners. You must have other eyes on your work before you publish.
Write often. Go to conferences. Network like crazy!!

I am working on Book 2 of the Rosewood Series.
Book 1 is titled Thorns of Rosewood. Book 2 will be Flames of Rosewood.
The main character in these books is Gloria Larson. She is the editor of a small town newspaper. The stories have great characters and are set in the midwest.

Honestly, ideas just sneak up on me and clobber me over the head. But if I want to get in the mood to write, I will get in a very comfy position and read the chapters preceding where I want to begin writing. Sometimes we just have to put the fingers to the keyboard and something will come of it.
