It wasn't really and idea for the book, but a compulsive need to tell my sister's story. No one should have to endure the abuse that she did. My inspiration was entirely based on the idea that telling her story may help others. I didn't write this book to be famous or sell millions of copies. I only wanted to help those suffering the same abuse and having the same experience of my sister and myself. If I help one person, that is enough.

As a child it was a way to escape what I was going through. I have also had a propensity to write my thoughts down, whether through poetry and lyrics, or through essays as I got older.
My sister's death was the tradgedy that pushed me to fully embrace writing a book. What she endured, how she suffered, and the demise of my entire demise of my family from mental health and substance use issues was a story I felt needed to be told.

Writing 'Being Broken' took a toll on me. Since the book was completed I have also lost my father to Alzheimer's and continue to struggle with my CPTSD. I built an art studio on my property and took a master gardner course so I will be focusing on creating a garden and continue to paint.
I do have a fantasy series bouncing around in my head and have started fleshing out characters and settings, as well as a potential outline.
I am also considering a follow up to my current book entitled 'Getting Fixed', but that is in a very preliminary thought process.

Just do it. Get it out and enjoy the process. Do away with perfectionism and doubt about what you are trying to say. Do not concern yourself with trying to be famous and sell millions of copies. Write for the love of it. You can't please everyone, the right people will enjoy what you do.

The form in the doorway was shadowed by the light behind it, overwhelmingly menacing and its face obscured. The child could only freeze and stare at the figure, knowing what was coming, and brace himself for the abuse he was about to endure.

This is a toss up of Toril from the Forgotten Realms, and Middle Earth from Tolkein's world.
I'd probably become a professional theif, spy, or assassin.

I am currently on a graphic novel kick. However, I just came across some 1st edition versions of The Exorcist and The Devil's Bride at my local free store at the dump so I think I'll check those out.
