Rather than travelling to a fictional world, I would like to spend a few weeks in Queen Victoria's fin-de-siècle London. Firstly, I would want to do that so that I could check my years of research on this period against reality. Secondly, I want to be able to smell nineteenth-century London, not that I necessarily expect pleasant smells.

This summer, I am trying to reduce my stock of books yet to be read, which consists of several piles, by reading 'Babel' by R.F. Kuang, 'De Profundis' by Oscar Wilde, the English translation of the Icelandic adaptation of 'Dracula' and maybe a book by Stephen King.

My life is an accumulation of mysteries, but the one that might qualify for the plot of a book is my involvement with the Society for Psychical Investigation & Education. I could write several books about the extraordinary things I have been privileged to investigate for the Society.
