Change locations and writing tools. The best thing that I can do when I'm stuck is walk away from the laptop and sit somewhere else with pen and paper. I can just move to a different place in my home, or head to a coffee shop. There's something about pen and paper that help me break through writer's block and get the inspiration I need to keep writing.

Typing "the end" on my first draft. Writing that messy first draft is darn hard work. I much prefer revising, and, of course, the best part is seeing my name in print.

Don't call yourself "aspiring." If you're working at your craft, you're a writer.
Read a lot of books in the genre you write in, so that you can learn the way that the good writers put a great story together.
Find a group of people that you can count on to give you a boost or a kick in the pants when you need it.

I'm working with another author on an anthology of short stories for boys, and have a contract to write a kid's version of Frankenstein for a publisher of ESL material. I also have a middle reader's fantasy on the go, as well as, a mystery series for middle readers set in England in the middle ages.

Readers are inspiring. Thinking about someone reading something that you've written keep your fingers on the keyboard.
Deadlines are a great inspiration, too! :)

One of my two recent books, The Dragon's Revenge, is a sequel, so the short answer for that is that I hadn't finished with my characters yet. The other book that I published recently is Writing Fiction: A Guide for Pre-Teens. As soon as I published Writing Fiction: A Hands-On Guide for Teens, people told me that I should write a book for pre-teens, too. It just took me a few years to get around to it!
