They are prequel short stories to Tower of the Four, Episode 1: The Quad. They tell the story of three of the four main characters before they travel to the Champions Academy. The fourth main character, Brom, has his story told at the beginning of Episode 1.

I wish I had a good answer for this one. I don't deal with writer's block very much. In fact, I don't know if I can say I've ever actually had writer's block. I have "writer's suck" instead. In other words, I can always sit down and write something. I've never just sat there and banged my head against the keyboard because nothing would come. However, sometimes what comes out of me truly and thoroughly sucks. I just keep putting crap words on the page until the badness bleeds out and then move past it.

It's a toss-up for me. I think the best thing is the euphoria of creation. I love creating characters I fall in love with. I love letting my imagination go wild and come up with strange and bizarre lands that I then get to return to whenever I want. A very close second is when I talk to a fan and they are as giddy/happy about something I have written as I am. That is also a "best thing" about writing.

Write write write. You can have amazing talent, but nothing replaces the act of putting pen to paper and putting in the time. Read your favorite authors, try to figure out how they do what they do. Add to your skills repertoire whenever you can. Attend writers conferences, get to know the industry.

I'm currently working on three projects, in addition to prepping for the launch of #Fairmist on February 27. The first is the sequel to #Fairmist. The second is the sequel to The Wishing World, an as-yet-unpublished middle-grade novel that is currently on the desk of an editor at Tor. The third project is a bit of a departure from the genres I currently write in. It's called Charlie Fiction.

A multitude of things. I have always seen life as an adventure playing out, in which I get to be a character. I see writing fantasy the same way, so I am generally inspired to write about heroes. These last years, my family has greatly inspired me. Watching my children's personalities emerge has been fuel for characters for me.
