When I was 13, I was involved in a head-on collision that left me in a coma, with 17 skull fractures and 7 concussions. When I was under, I had a near-death experience. God told me it wasn't my time.
When I came to, I was blind in my right eye, deaf in my right ear, and unable to move the right side of my face. The specialists treating me wanted to do multiple surgeries, but my parents said to give it some time. I went home and healed, never needing any operations. I have blind spots in my eye still, but I can achieve 20/30 vision now.
The miracle of the near-death experience and my recovery has always amazed me.

The idea for Under the Blood Moon popped into my head while I was already working on Ravaged. For a couple of days, I worked on both books, then I set Ravaged aside and finished Under the Blood Moon.
