That is the mystery about seeing something in a dream.
Long time ago, I dreamt about someone I knew very well.
He lived in Denmark (I am from The Netherlands).
He unexpectedly turned up the day after my dream and I was able to tell him everything about his house and could describe the interior, tables, carpet etc. - even knew about his favorite chair, from where he could look outside and see a lake. He was very surprised, I had everything right.

I was thinking about odd people who have a particular talent: they are able to play the piano like a virtuoso, can almost paint like Rembrandt or can remember all numbers in a telephone book. I started writing and the book is almost finished.

I read lots and lots of non-fiction books, take the time to think things over, write down ideas and alway try to explain what a new book will be about in just one line. For insyance: What will happen when Neanderthalers brains are so different from hours, that they are able to live together in their dreams? My novel Neanderthal Dreams has already been published.

Most important: write every day. Don't worry about what other people think of you and your ambitions. Never imitate another writer - what he/she does, is already done and you have to come up with original work.

The fun. The absolute freedom to make your characters act they way you want them to. And then the result, 80.000 words at least, a brand new adventure ready - and up to the next book!

I never had a writer's block, I have always been able to write every day.
