“Deception Island is a great read for young adults. Although I wrote it for an adult audience, some of the most enthusiastic fans of the book are between the ages of 13 and 19!” Judy Boss

Judy Boss You can work from home and set your own hours. I also enjoy working with the editors at the publishing companies.
Judy Boss I'd go to the inner earth world under Antarctica where I would learn from the wise ones.
Judy Boss My obsession with Antarctica, the setting for my novel Deception Island, seemingly came out of nowhere. I woke up one morning and wanted to learn everything I could about the great white continent. Finally my kids said "Just go, Mom," hoping I'd get over my obsession. I booked a trip to Antarctica and wrote a rough draft of the novel while on the trip. I'm still totally enamored with Antarctica--it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I plan to go back and work on a sequel to Deception Island.
Judy Boss I'm most inspired by having deadlines. Being a member of a writer's group is also good since we need something ready to read each time we meet.
Judy Boss I like to work on one project at a time and see it through from beginning to end. Right now I'm taking a hiatus from fiction writing since my textbooks (McGraw-Hill Higher Education) will be going into new editions soon and that will not leave me any time for fiction writing. I'm also working on promoting my novel Deception Island on social media. And I'm looking for an agent or publisher for my YA novel Saving Grace.
Judy Boss Share your drafts with others. Seek feedback from other writers. DON'T write just for yourself--write for your audience. Use editors; writers cannot edit their own work. If you're serious about being a professional writer make it your goal to make a living as a writer.
Judy Boss I only get writer's block if I'm not accountable to someone else, such as the publisher, to meet a deadline. I rarely miss a deadline. If I do get writer's block because I don't have a deadline, I work at the library instead of home--even then this doesn't always work.
