As the dark moon barely shone on the heavy fog hanging around his shoulders, Sampson felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end as he carefully crept across the familiar ancient foot log worn thin by the daily treks many generations had taken across the deep creek to gather kindling from the other side. However, this evening was different because of the old map he had found in the attic this afternoon which burned the skin in his hot hand and seemed to say, "Only those who are worthy as judged by the ancestors' faces unnaturally carved upon the five trees surrounding the sacred circle may search for the treasure we left behind guarded by the spirits before we were forced from our land by the white man."

This is a hard question to answer. I love historical fiction and yet, I would not love to live in time periods that did not have access to modern amenities. Nevertheless, I would probably say I would like to travel to Ancient Mesopotamia during the era of Gilgamesh so I could experience the culture and then write about life in that time period.
