Gordon Alexander I do something else for a while that makes me happy. Drink a rum. Watch some rugby. The quality of my writing is directly proportionate to my mood. If I'm in a good mood, this is reflected through my work. If I'm tired or in a bad mood, I may as well not even bother.
Gordon Alexander Just have a go mate! It has never been easier to be a writer, with the advent of self-publishing, and with the rise of social media and hundreds of other author marketing platforms, you would be mad not to have a crack. If you want to write, do it. If you want to do something else, do that instead. In my opinion, we only get one shot at this life. Therefore the meaning of life is to have as much fun as possible, and to build friendships and meaningful relationships with people to share your journey. If writing makes you happy, as it does for me, then what are you waiting for?
Gordon Alexander Being a travel writer, the answer is simple. South America was on top of my 'must see' list!
Gordon Alexander Without doubt it is having people read my work, and then contacting me to say how much they enjoyed it, or how it inspired them to do something similar. These things inspire me to sit down and write for hours and hours at a time.
Gordon Alexander I am working on a travel memoir set in South America. I have been to Chile, trekked through Patagonia, visited Argentina and Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas. I made my way through the Atacama Desert, had a wild adventure crossing the Bolivian border by a four-wheel-drive Landcruiser, and by the time you read this I will be trekking around Peru.
Gordon Alexander I am inspired by the good things in life. When someone makes me laugh out loud, I feel compelled to write in down, and then often I find myself writing for hours at a time. Whenever I see a spectacular mountain or something of the most remarkable beauty, my mind takes on the form of a typewriter and in those moments, I simply have to transform those thoughts into physical words on a page.
