I woke to the sound of my daughter whispering from the hallway, “Daddy, there’s someone in my bed.”
When I turned on the light, she was already asleep in my arms.

If I could travel to any fictional world, I’d pick the gritty, magical streets of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files. There’s something compelling about a world where the supernatural is just beneath the surface of our everyday lives—dangerous, unpredictable, but also full of hidden wonder.
I wouldn’t necessarily want to duel vampires or trade spells with fae lords, but I’d love to walk alongside Dresden for a day. To see how he balances cynicism with stubborn hope, how he faces the shadows while still cracking a joke. In a world like that, I think I’d gravitate toward being a chronicler—someone who observes, records, and helps others make sense of the strangeness around them.
Because sometimes the most powerful magic isn’t the spell—it’s the story.

That summer I had a mix of inspiration and exploration on my list. I was diving into books on education and curriculum design—preparing for the next stage of my academic journey—while also making time for science fiction that stretched my imagination. My stack included classics like Brave New World and 1984 alongside newer works of speculative fiction, plus titles on entrepreneurship and leadership to feed both my teaching and writing.
I’ve always believed that a good summer reading list should balance what sharpens the mind with what fuels the imagination.

One mystery that has stayed with me happened after a serious car accident in 2020. I walked away unharmed from what should have been devastating, and the chain of events that followed felt almost orchestrated—old connections reappearing, chance encounters with people in need, and moments of conviction that reshaped my outlook on life.
At the time it felt like coincidence stacked on coincidence, but looking back, it was as if unseen forces were weaving threads together—pushing me to rethink how I assigned value to people and what it truly meant to serve others.
That sense of hidden design—of reality glitching at the edges—has been a driving force behind my writing, especially The Invisible People. In many ways, the greatest mysteries are not about what happens to us, but why, and what we choose to do with it.
