Here it is:
I found a dusty book on my shelf that I don’t remember buying.
It’s written entirely in my handwriting...and it ends with tomorrow’s date.

Fantasia from The NeverEnding Story by Michael Ende. I read the book as a teen after watching the movie, and it never really left me. I’d wander through its shape-shifting landscapes, speak with luckdragons, and write poems in the air with invisible ink. I wouldn’t try to save the world, just quietly listen to forgotten creatures and sit beside the Childlike Empress while she dreams worlds into new forms. Fantasia is born from human imagination, and as a writer, I can’t think of a better place to spend the afternoon.

Right now I’m reading A Most Puzzling Murder by Bianca Marais, a delightfully clever mystery that mixes humor, heart, and just enough chaos to keep me turning pages late into the night. I’m also delving into Marjorie Agosín's stunning bilingual poetry collections that explore identity and language through a Chilean lens. And for my inner language nerd, I’ve got Fluent Forever by Gabriel Wyner on deck because I love learning about how we learn. Summer reading, for me, is always a mix of story, sound, and soul.

One day, I’ll write The Case of the Missing Quiet. It’s a cozy mystery set in a house that looks peaceful from the outside, but inside… It’s a sonic jungle of in-laws, barking dogs, and mysteriously timed leaf blowers. The plot twist? The protagonist (a bilingual writer with a soft spot for tea and metaphors) starts to hear silence, but only when she's writing fiction. Is it magic? A secret portal? Or the call of her true path? You’ll have to read to find out...
